OSAKA

FOUNDATION

Overview

ROLE: LOGO DESIGNER

The Osaka Foundation identity expresses a legacy of service rooted in heritage, sport, and opportunity. Founded in 1999 by Leonard “Maxime” François and Tamaki Osaka to support underserved families and children in Jacmel, Haiti, the Foundation uses tennis and education programming to build confidence, transferable life skills, and future potential for at-risk youth. The identity reflects this mission by blending Japanese and Haitian cultural influences into a symbolic mark that conveys community, resilience, and forward movement through sport and learning.

LOGO BREAKDOWN

Circular Brushstroke

Inspired by the Japanese enso, the imperfect circular form represents balance, inclusion, and growth while also evoking a tennis ball in motion, symbolizing progress through sport and continuous self-development.

Red Brush Element

The red brushstroke connects Japan’s rising sun with Haiti’s revolutionary spirit, representing life, courage, and renewal as the emotional energy driving empowerment and change.

The Combined Mark

A culturally rooted identity that fuses Japanese discipline and Haitian resilience with the Foundation’s mission to empower at-risk youth in Haiti through tennis and education.
